Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles  
I know! A TV post! About TV that's actually on right now! I hope I haven't forgotten how. I did forget how annoying commercials are. A summer of marathoning spoiled me.


So, the opening scene was very effective, I thought. I still love the pool scene more, but it was a neat trick to show everything without words or sounds. I do wish that the promos hadn't spoiled the fact that Cameron was going to turn. The whole exchange with John "seeing" everything - it feels like there was more going on in that missing scene, which I hope will be clarified later.

So Charlie and Derek had very little to do this episode, but I loved their scene together. Derek was being incredibly obnoxious with the needling and Charlie was all, "I saved your life. Shut up."

Likewise, Ellison's brief appearance, and his exchange with Cromartie was awesome.

The best part of the episode was John's angst over everything. I liked his dynamic with Sarah and her classic mothering. Also, the tag-team parenting at the end of the day with Derek was a nice touch.

I'm not entirely sure what to think of Shirley Manson's character. Her delivery wasn't great and she seemed to be veering in a Cylon/God direction which makes me leery. However, her being a T1000 was AWESOME.

Oh, I never even considered a rape scenario. There didn't seem to be enough time. Although it was hard to tell what all was happening and when during that scene.

I think Cameron was able to override her programming, just like Catherine was foreshadowing in the beginning. I mean, obviously, when she was reprogrammed by John, she had to get rid of that pesky TERMINATION order, but I don't think we ever saw it last season. Now, however, it's as if she has to consciously force it down lest it rise up. Hope Future!John programmed her well.

I could be completely off-base with that, but between Sarah constantly asking John if he was "okay," and the references to John "seeing" something, and Sarkissian straddling Sarah with his hand over her throat - I don't know, my mind went there. You may be quite right that there was no completion due to lack of time, but an attempt didn't seem out of the question. Because really, Sarkissian could have just killed them - why tie them up if not to "punish" them? The gaps between what we saw have to be important.

I think Cameron was able to override her programming, just like Catherine was foreshadowing in the beginning.
That's what I'm leaning towards, which brings up all sorts of knotty free-will questions. Which is AWESOME.

I voted the Cameron really loves John option, but I want to clarify that I'm not 100% sold on that. If that bit had been clicky boxes instead of radial circle things, I would have chosen both. Because I'm sort of 60% - Cameron loves John, 40% has some ulterior motive at this point.

I loved this episode. It was so much fun to watch, with the angsting and the action and the family drama.

Hmmm, fair enough. I don't know what's going on with her, but it's pretty cool either way. I still can't believe that John handed a gun to her.

It was! I'm beginning to think that Sarah should let John drive though - she gets into too many accidents.

Great poll and awesome episode wasn't it? I fortunately watched it on time delay so I could avoid the annoying commercials but I can't wait to see what happens next. And I love that feeling.

I really enjoyed last night's episode, except for Cameron suddenly turning good while being sandwiched between two trucks. That was entirely too Hollywood.

I don't know what is going on with Cameron, which is awesome. I don't even know anymore what I think her motivations are, while last season I was clearer. She acted too different. But I loved Sarah's "John Connor!" when he hesitated about removing the chip.

I was HATING on our new villian for being so incredibly TERRIBLE and LAME. Who calls a huge night meeting for a 30 second meeting? It's call teleconferencing. Look it up. However, when she became a Terminator it was SO AWESOME. SO AWESOME.

Derek was noticeably less menacing (I mean interpersonally, with the Connor's) than last season.

Yeah, that part is pretty great. I don't even know when she became "good" again. Clearly John thought that she was fixed whilst sandwiched between the trucks, but I'm not so sure. Something funny is going on.

I never saw him as particularly menacing. I do see him stepping up to more of a pseudo-father role with John, which doubtless has to do with his acknowledgment of their relationship.

Hee. I was (and still am) going to do a poll on the_other_reese asking why Derek was needling Charley so much. Poor Charley.

I think Cameron overrode her programming because of Shirley-1000's comments about computers that cross against the light. I think there was supposed to be a message there.

Ha, yes. I'm really torn as to what extent Derek was feeling jealous (not necessarily romantically, but just having another man competing for Sarah and Johns' affections) and to what extent he's just protective and suspicious of "civilians." Derek is very much an alpha wolf, isn't he?

Yeah, the more I think about it, I'm sure that was supposed to be message. Which opens the big black hole of what and whether Cameron feels and free will and all that jazz. Which is awesome.

I didn't click the jealous option on your poll, because I don't think Derek is in love with Sarah. But I think there is a bit of lust and alpha maleness going on, as well as his natural suspicion and coldness to anyone not in his immediate sphere.

I agree. It is awesome. I mean, you kind of know the show had to go there, but it did it so much more deftly than I was expecting.

Are you excited about her being a T1000 because that means she is a robot terminator thingy or does the number 1000 have some significance?

After reading the poll and the comments, I realized I really need to rewatch. I loved the part I was paying attention to, heh. I wished I had rewatched the season finale before watching the season premiere since I didn't remember, know what was going on in the beginning.
