LotS: 1.13 Revenant
Very quick thoughts about the latest LotS episode:

1. Certain scenes will clearly require a re-watch or ten. Oh yes.
2. Amfortas sort of sucks. I ... don't know that I entirely believe his version of what happened. I think that Kieran going mad was at least partially his fault.
3. Was Kieran really confessed? I'm not entirely convinced. In love, clearly, which would make him want to protect Vivian anyway, but confessed?
3. So, putting together a hot young man with a hot young woman who's off-limits - yeah, you're pretty much begging for trouble here.
4. Um, Zedd? Is now the right time to be leaving Richard and Kahlan alone?
5. One of these days, the show is going to have to clarify the difference between being in love and being confessed.

I only saw the post title out of the corner of my eye, and I thought you'd misspelled Lost. And then as I was clicking to my flist, I realized what it actually must have said and was sad.

Heh. We're driving you crazy with this show, aren't we? Kahlan's cute though - you'd like her.

Yeah, are the Seeker and his Confessor always going to be madly in love? Because that seems like a super bad plan. Like, why not make Confessor's ugly, so it's not so muddy. Which speaks to your 5th point. Because... yeah. Those women are gorgeous and kind so I feel like men being in love with them isn't shocking. It's very confusing.

I need icons.

I imagine not always, but I'd bet it's not a very uncommon occurrence. I liked that about this episode - showing that Richard and Kahlan's situation isn't unique. Not all Confessors are gorgeous - see Sacrifice.

In the book, the difference is clear. A man who's confessed essentially has no free will - his only thought, ever, is to do what the woman who confessed him wants. In the show, so far, they've been ambiguous about it.

Yes, this! This seems like spectacularly bad planning on some higher power/grand planner's part! Let's stick these two highly attractive people together in constantly high-stress situations and make them swear to protect each other and then TELL THEM THEY CAN'T DO IT.

Yeah, I don't think Kieran was confessed either. The show is going to have to address the fact that Confessors keep dying and these guys are sticking around, still in love with them. (See also Lara and that villager guy in "Denna".)

4. I know, right? I mean, I guess he trusts R&K more than Kieran and Vivian, but jeez, Zedd.

They really are. The fact that Confessors can make anyone fall in love with them is obscuring the fact that sometimes men might just fall in love with Confessors without coercion. I think that it could be a decent plot point actually, depending on how they handle it. At the moment, I'm sort of amazed that Richard and Kahlan have gotten more on-screen make-out time than most official couples in other shows. I mean, dude.

I know, right?
It's sweet that he trusts them and all, but ah, they just came about this close to sex and I'm thinking there might be some issues left over from that. You think they were frustrated before ...
